Tae Kwon Do and the Hijab - Canada caves.

Tae Kwon Do Championship to allow the hijab.

The Muslim hijab, banned at a taekwondo tournament in Quebec last month, will be allowed at the 2007 World Championship in Quebec City later this month, the International Taekwon-Do Federation announced on Friday.

The decision by a Quebec federation last month to bar a team of Muslim girls from taking part with their hijabs at the regional tournament had prompted protests of discrimination, but Quebec federation officials said it was a matter of safety.

That group was affiliated with the World Taekwondo Federation, a rival group to the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), which said on Friday it would temporarily allow the head scarves at its May 31-June 3 championship.

There's really nothing left for me to say about this disgusting display of dhimmitude.

  1. Allow me to cheer you up a bit. I did TKD for 25 years, earning all my black belts in Korea and training under several Korean national champions. Very very bad people.

Speaking from the experience of having fought in the thousands of times, I can tell you that having your peripheral vision in any way masked is a one way ticket to the dentist's chair and the the nose reconstruction experts. If the hijab is worn appropriately, or if it shifts during a match . . . all other things being equal, your gonna eat foot.

And, at the upper levels of competition, the ones you get to after taking a lot of punishment, you have to know that intrinsically. You can bet all the cash in your bank account that it is not the black belt muslim girls who are demanding the right to wear the hijab in the tournament. I feel sorry for them. Irregardless of how this reflects on giving in to Muslim demands, if not careful, one of these girls could get hurt.
