Somalia: Islamist leaders in Yemen for talks

(SomaliNet) Senior leaders of the defeated Islamic Courts Union are now in Yemen for talks with the Yemeni officials, as the Al-Khaleej Arabic newspaper based in Dubai, UAE on Saturday. Dr. Abu-Bakar Al-Qureybi, the Yemeni foreign minister has confirmed the arrival of the Islamist leaders. “They came here for talks with the government officials over the Ethiopian occupation in Somalia,” he said. The paper quoted Qureybi saying that it would be a window of opportunity for Islamists to engage peace dialogue with the transitional federal government. (Ed. note: Hudna time)
