Long time no see, Mr. President

Fearless Leader? Not so much.
Somali president visits Mogadishu for the first time in 40 years!
"Somalia's president returned to the beleaguered capital yesterday, his first visit since taking office, while his forces and Ethiopian troops laid siege to an Islamic movement's last military foothold. President Abdullahi Yousuf/Yusuf took office in 2004 but had not set foot in Mogadishu for 40 years and has spent much of his time as Somalia's leader outside the country because he considered the capital unsafe."

Guess what?
He was right.
"Yusuf/Yousuf was believed have been the target of a car bomb assassination attempt in September in the western city of Baidoa, which the government chose as its seat because Mogadishu was deemed unsafe. His government blamed the Islamic militia, which denied having anything to do with it."

They're the ROP, don't you know?

I don't know about Yusuf/Yousuf, but he has been quoted as saying:
No Negotiation With Islamists
"Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf said on Monday there would be no negotiations with Islamists who ruled the capital Mogadishu and large parts of southern Somalia before they were ousted late last month."

WTF? I thought there were no negotiations???
"Government offers Islamists lifeline: ABDULLAH Yusuf Ahmed arrived in Mogadishu today for the first time since becoming Somali president in 2004 as the government offered an olive branch to moderates from the ousted Islamists."
