The Poles under attack...

Stand firm Poland. We can't thank you enough for your support in the War on Terror.

Four explosions have struck near the Polish embassy in Baghdad, five days after Poland's ambassador was injured in a bomb attack. "There were four explosions at different distances (from the embassy). It happened in the morning and early afternoon," acting ambassador Waldemar Figaj said on Monday. Poland's intelligence Chief Zbigniew Wassermann told reporters no one had been injured in the attack, but Iraqi defense and interior ministry officials said one of the blats killed one and injured three others. The explosions come after three bombs went off near the diplomatic convoy of Polish ambassador Edward Pietrzyk last Wednesday, killing three and injuring 14 others including Pietrzyk.

The attacks have increased the already fierce public opposition in Poland to the presence of Polish troops in Iraq. A recent survey showed 81 per cent of Poles oppose the mission.
