Miscellaneous Fitna

Members of a hardline Islamic group hold a sign featuring a picture of Dutch politician Geert Wilders and reading ''Death Sentence for Insulters of Islam'' during a demonstration in front of the Dutch embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, yesterday.

Take the Fitna Trivia Test here. (I missed two.)

Criticism and Islam: An opinion piece in today's Wall Street Journal's takes on Fitna
And here is the rest of it.

Today's Der Spiegel interview with Geert Wilders. A Muslim response: I'm not the least bit offended. (Probably because he knows Fitna is nothing but the truth and was thrilled to see the images of all the maimed and infidels alongside verses of his holy book.)

Indonesia bans Fitna. And Geert Wilders, too. They are also threatening to ban YouTube if they do not remove Fitna. (buh-bye)

Singapore condemns Fitna and trots out the meme that freedom of expression does not guarantee freedom to insult. (Sez who?)

Malaysian supermarkets have their Fitna moment by marking Dutch products with red labels in order to give consumers the option to boycott.

Boycott-schmoycott: "According to Arnold Heertje, a former professor of economics at the University of Amsterdam, an economic boycott of the Netherlands would have little effect. "It would amount to a drop of 1.7 percent in our exports if the boycott was applied comprehensively. Probably the effect would be much smaller and possibly zero."
