In other Muslim surrender news...

Although in this case, it's the government who is throwing in the towel. Once again. The hudna dance between the Pakistani Govt appeasers and the wily Taliban continues with the Government caving into demands and paying Islamists off left and right. Swat Taliban-Government talks continue.

The Minister told a questioner that the check posts in the district would be abolished after the local administration reviewed the situation. There would be total ban on display of arms and armed patrolling by Taliban. The Taliban prisoners would be released after fulfilling the legal requirement, he said, adding that payment of compensation cheques to the affectees has been started.

Spokesman for Taliban Haji Muslim Khan expressed satisfaction with outcome of the peace talks. He reiterated withdrawal of troops from the district and release of their 42 detained prisoners. He said “we want to keep intact the agreement and the government should give final shape to the modalities of the peace truce”. Meanwhile in other related development, the process of distribution of compensation cheques among heirs of the Swat operation has begun as in the first phase Rs.4.7 million cheques were distributed in tehsil Matta on Monday. The cheques were distributed at a special function held at the office of Tehsildar Matta Amir Hassan Khan. Rs.100000 cheques were given to the heirs of deceased and Rs.50000 each to the injured of the operations.

The Pakistani Gov't may be off somewhere smoking the peace pipe with the Taliban, but the suicide bombs and terror activities continue apace so while the Government remains off in la-la-give-peace-a-chance-land the Diplomats are curtailing their activities, security is being increased at 'all sensitive installations' and hospitals are being put on alert.
