Security forces raided a village in the South on Sunday and detained 50 men with bomb-making equipment, an army spokesman said.

The detainees were taken for questioning to an army camp in Narathiwat, one of three provinces where more than 2,300 people have been killed in a three-year separatist insurgency in the Malay-speaking region.The dawn raid, which involved 100 troops and police, followed tipoffs from villagers that a group of militants were hiding in the village, Col Atthadej Mathanom said.

The detainees can be held without charge for 28 days under an emergency law.Last month, the army detained 160 Muslims after rebels intensified attacks on government schools, civil servants and security forces.

Six nationals of the former Yugoslavia were arrested early Tuesday on charges they plotted to attack the Fort Dix Army base and "kill as many soldiers as possible," federal authorities said.

An arms dealer working with the FBI brought the men to a secret meeting to purchase AK-47s, newspaper reported.

France's Royal warns of violence if Sarkozy elected.

And just who will be committing the violence, Mme. Royal? Could it be .... Muslims?

Socialist opponent Segolene Royal said on Friday that France risks violence and brutality if her opponent right-winger Nicolas Sarkozy wins Sunday's presidential election. On the last day of official campaigning, opinion polls showed Sarkozy enjoyed a commanding lead over Royal, who accused the former interior minister of lying and polarizing France.

Pressed on whether there would be actual violence, Royal said: "I think so, I think so," referring specifically to France's volatile suburbs hit by widespread rioting in 2005.

Sarkozy's reply:
A relaxed Sarkozy laughed off her comments. "She's not in a good mood this morning. It must be the opinion polls," he told Europe 1 radio. "She's finishing in violence, in a certain state of feverishness," he told reporters during a trip to the Alps. "When I hear her remarks, I wonder why a woman of her qualities carries such violent feelings. It adds nothing to the debate."

Translation: pwned.

More Democratic 'Oversight'

I'm not one given to violence, but I swear I'd really love to bi%&$ these two.

We all know that Madam Speaker didn't find the time to read the Surrender Bill until yesterday. Well, Brad Dayspring over at the RSC points out another example of "DEMOCRATIC OVERSIGHT" in action.

The Speaker later signed the bill, apparently utilizing the next few hours to actually read the bill that she actively promoted and voted for. As astonishing as that may be, later in the day it became ironically clear that the Emergency Supplemental bill wasn’t the only thing that Speaker Pelosi failed to read.

As the Associated Press reported on April 4, the House Armed Services Committee urged Democrat aides to avoid using terms such as “the war on terrorism” and not to use the term “global war on terrorism.”

On April 4, House Armed Services Comm. Chairman Ike Skelton said, “GOP objections to our efforts to clarify legislative language represent the typical Republican leadership attempt to tie together the misadventure in Iraq and the overall war against terrorists. The Iraq war is separate and distinct from the war against terrorists, who have their genesis in Afghanistan and who attacked us on 9/11, and the American people understand this.”

Today, at a press conference today with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (ironically enough), Speaker Pelosi acknowledged the existence of the War on Terror: “I urge the President to sign the Global War on Terror Supplemental so that we can refocus on fighting terrorism.” Guess she missed the memo.

Bwa-hah-hah! (You don't think she's started slithering away from her position on Iraq already, do you? And doesn't Harry Reid look like the talking sheep on that sleeping pill commercial?)

Scott over at Town Commons has been busy today. He found this excellent New Republic piece by Lawrence Kaplan, calling it "possibly the most comprehensive, eloquent and accurate criticism of the Democrat positions on the Iraq war" that he has ever seen.

And I am tending to agree with him.

This snippet from the article just screamed to me of La Pelosi...

Where all this leads is clear. Piece together a string of demonstrably false "facts on the ground" from a suitably safe remove, and you're left with a scenario where we can walk away from Iraq without condition and regardless of consequence. You don't need to watch terrified Iraqis pleading for American forces to stay put in their neighborhoods. You don't need to read the latest National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq, which anticipates that a precipitous U.S. withdrawal will end in catastrophe. Why, in the serene conviction that things are the other way around, you don't even need to read at all. Chances are, your congressman doesn't either.

Remember this? "La Pelosi: I have a certain serenity about it all, I really do."

This could be a real embarrassment for Awad, because if Muslims are actually doing well in the U.S., maybe they don’t need CAIR. And that could mean all that fine Saudi and UAE money is going to the wrong group. Or maybe that most American Muslims don’t want their kids to be part of the future Muslim Brotherhood Caliphate after all. What’s even worse - all those reports of discrimination cases against Jews (couldn’t be anti-semitism, must be better reporting….). So frustrating for Awad and his Royal backers!
