Flying Imams trying to pull another fast one

The flying Imams secretly try to get the public barred from having access to the case.

They were DENIED.

Bwa-ha-ha.

A federal judge overseeing a lawsuit filed by six Muslim men who were removed from a US Airways flight last fall has declined to limit public access to the case.

Omar T. Mohammedi, a New York attorney for the six Muslim scholars, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he sought limited media access because he felt some of the coverage of the case has been biased against his clients.

"When you think of the media, and the way they have been portraying this case, it has not been very helpful. It has been biased," Mohammedi said. "That has caused a lot of stress, a lot of stress on our clients, as well as made it difficult for us to handle this case ... in a manner that it should be handled."

In a letter dated Tuesday and addressed to Mohammedi, U.S. District Judge Ann Montgomery noted that Mohammedi had requested that the court remove members of the media from an electronic distribution list, bar members of the media from attending hearings, and hold proceedings in closed session.

"The Court declines to treat this case in the extraordinary manner that you request," the judge wrote. She added that the public and press have an interest in full access to judicial proceedings under the First Amendment. You have provided no legal authority supporting your request to limit public access to this case," Montgomery wrote. "While it is regrettable that anonymous individuals have threatened violence, the Court Security Officers will insure that the United States Courthouse here in Minneapolis is secure."

The judge's letter was entered in the case file, and it noted that further communications on the matter should also be filed through the court's electronic database.

The letters previously submitted on the issue were filed off the record and were not made public. Judge Montgomery said through a law clerk that she would have no comment beyond her letter.

UK: Muslim peer says Sir Salman is like Osama

I say: First of all it's an interview with Le Figaro. How red can you get? Then to say the things he did?

UK - get rid of these people. D-E-P-O-R-T them or bring them up on charges.

A Muslim peer compared Salman Rushdie to the September 11 hijackers yesterday as protests over the author's knighthood escalated. At Regents Park Mosque in London, demonstrators held up placards saying "May God curse the Queen" and one speaker said that should Tony Blair become an envoy in the Middle East he should be sent back "in a bag".

The Labour peer Lord Ahmed of Rotherham, who was interviewed in Le Figaro newspaper in France, added fuel to the row. "This honour is given in recognition of services rendered to Great Britain," he said. "Salman Rushdie lives in New York. He is a controversial man who has insulted Muslim people, Christians and the British. He does not deserve the honour.

"Two weeks ago Tony Blair spoke about constructing bridges with Muslims. What hypocrisy. What would one say if the Saudi or Afghan governments honoured the martyrs of the September 11 attacks on the United States?"

Fort Dix 6: Taped 100's of times.

From al-Reuters

Six Muslim men accused of plotting to kill soldiers at a New Jersey army base had hundreds of conversations recorded by federal agents that will be used against them at trial, a prosecutor said on Thursday.

Assistant U.S. Attorney William Fitzpatrick told U.S. District Judge Robert Kugler he would soon be able to provide transcripts of relevant conversations to defense attorneys.

"How many are there? Hundreds?" Kugler asked during a status hearing.

"More," Fitzpatrick replied.

They plead not guilty and act like the court is their oyster... judge not amused.

Some defendants smiled and gestured toward relatives as they were led into the courtroom handcuffed and shackled at the ankles. Kugler warned that any attempt to communicate by verbal or nonverbal means would not be tolerated during the trial. "That will be the last time that happens in this courtroom," Kugler said. "This isn't the place for visitation." Anyone violating the rule would be permanently removed from the court, the judge said.

The judge went on to say that he hoped to start hearing oral arguments by October of this year. Stay tuned.

Diary of a Mad Jihadi

From the Beeb: They fought in court to gain release of the name of Zeeshan Anis Siddiqui - one of the 6 jihadis who have "absconded from UK anti-terrorism control orders".

Diary of a Mad Jihadi...

Cold, alone and suffering from terrible diarrhoea, Zeeshan Anis Siddiqui's dream of being a heroic warrior in the name of God, was faltering.

"The greatest tests are truly to be soon alleviated and the greatest rewards will be given to those who bore them with patience only for the sake of Allah," he comforts himself.

No running water, dreadful food and terrible neighbours who live in "filth". Just another day in the utterly miserable existence of a would-be British jihadi who had given up the creature comforts of London surburbia to rough it in one of the poorest parts of Pakistan.

This was particularly poignant....Hah!

"I'm covered in shit and there ain't a drop of water. Only Allah knows the suffering I am going thru."

I've found myself wondering about the Fort Dix 6 recently.

and happened across this scary and eye-opening piece over at FReeperland.

From Chronicles Magazine: Living with the Albanians.

The eye opener:

As we now know, the extended Duka family (three brothers, a grandmother, parents, wives, children) was in the habit of slaughtering lambs in their backyard with a kitchen knife. There were numerous complaints about fetid diapers tossed into an open trash dumpster that sat in the driveway, near an array of cars and pickup trucks without registration or license plates. Roosters ran about their yard, and juveniles roamed the neighborhood, sometimes setting off fireworks.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that police cited the Dukas repeatedly on disorderly persons charges, including marijuana possession, improper behavior, prowling, disturbing the peace, and obstructing the administration of law; they were fined between $20 and $830 on various occasions. The brothers were also issued some 50 traffic citations between 1997 and 2006 for speeding, driving without licenses, driving while on the suspended list, failure to appear in court, and other charges. They parked oversize trucks on the streets and operated unauthorized roofing business from home. But despite the attention from Cherry Hill code enforcers and police officers—who were called to the Duka home at least 10 times over the last seven years—their lifestyle of choice continued unhindered until they and three other Muslims (one of them also Albanian) were arrested four weeks ago.

Because of the Dukas’ behavior at least two families decided to move from the tree-lined street. According to the Inquirer, “a couple who requested that their last name not be published because they fear reprisals said they were one of the families who moved.”
The scary part.

As Cherry Hill Mayor Bernie Platt commented on his township in the aftermath of the Duka case, “It’s a very progressive community.” True to his ideals, only last month Mr. Platt declared, at the ground-breaking ceremony for an Islamic house of worship in Cherry Hill, “We have many religions here . . . now, thank God, we’re going to have a mosque.”

Mark Steyn on the Ft Dix 6

The view from 30,000 ft with Mark Steyn.

Fortress America's Gate is Open.

He takes off on the Ft Dix 6 with this riff:
Most terrorists seem like bumbling losers if they're caught before the act: That's certainly true of the Fort Dix jihadists who took their terrorist training DVD to the local audio store to be copied.

It was also true of the Islamists arrested in Toronto last year for plotting to behead the prime minister, one of whose cell members had a bride who wanted him to sign a prenup committing him to jihad. The Heathrow plotters arrested while planning to blow up U.S.-bound airliners included a Muslim convert who'd started out as the son of a British Conservative Party official with a P. G. Wodehouse double-barreled name and a sister who was a Victoria's Secret model and ex-wife of tennis champ Yanick Noah.

But then Mohammed Atta and the 9/11 gang would have seemed pretty funny if you'd run into them in that lap-dance club they went to before the big day where the girls remembered them only as very small tippers. Most terrorists are jokes until the bomb goes off.

And he's not shy about naming names when it comes to "root causes"
"...what then radicalized so many Western Muslims? Answer: in many cases, the Balkans.

When Yugoslavia collapsed 15 years ago, Jacques Poos told the Americans to butt out: "The hour of Europe has come!" he declared confidently. Poos was the foreign minister of Luxembourg, a country as big as your hot tub, but he chanced to be holding the European Union's rotating "presidency" at the time and, as it happened, the Americans were very happy to butt out.

"We don't have a dog in this fight," said then-secretary of state, James Baker.

Well, the hour of Europe came and went, and a couple of hundred thousand corpses later the EU was only too happy for Americans to butt back in again. So NATO bombed Christian Serbs in defense of Albanian Muslims, and a fat lot of good it did if the Duka brothers are any indication.
