Somalia to extend olive branch to Islamists?

And the US is paying for it???? Big MISTAKE.

The Somali interim government has proposed to pardon Islamists who were jailed after government forces, with help from the Ethiopian army, launched a military operation against them in January. Under the proposal, the government would pardon Islamists who have been fighting the government for months, and release jailed Islamists.

Government spokesman Abdi Haji Gobdon told the media this plan had been discussed by cabinet ministers in order to “extend an olive branch” to former fighters from the Union of Islamic Courts, other anti-government fighters and politicians from the opposition.

The decision for a pardon would likely require parliamentary approval. The number of imprisoned Islamist fighters is unknown. Somali has not had a stable government since 1991.

Last week a United Nations-backed reconciliation conference between the government and the Islamists was postponed for a month for the third time, due to insecurity and lack of funds.

Washington has released $1.25 million to fund the July 15 conference.

Philippines: 9 dead in bus bombing...

MANILA, Philippines, June 16--The death toll from a bus bombing in a southern Philippine town rose to nine Saturday, after three wounded people died in hospital overnight, police said.

The blast Friday in Bansalan, Davao del Sur province, came about five minutes after a bomb went off inside a bus owned by the same company in another southern city, causing little damage and no injuries, AP reported. At least 14 other people were wounded in the Bansalan blast.

Extortion appeared to be the likely motive since a group has been demanding 2 million pesos ($40,000) in “protection money“ from the People’s Transport Corp., which operates the buses, regional police director Chief Superintendent Andres Caro II said.

Last week, an explosion ripped through another bus and wounded 11 people in Matalam township in nearby Cotabato province.

The criminal group, however, could have links to al-Qaida-related terror cells responsible for other bombings in the country, Caro said. "These are not ordinary criminal elements because they know how to make these types of bombs used only by terrorists, and who must have some formal training in constructing and handling these types of improvised explosive device," he said.

Aside from al-Qaida-linked militants, Muslim separatist rebels who have been fighting for a separate homeland in the south for more than three decades, also operate in the area where many bombings have occurred in the past.

American soldiers arrived here Saturday to help probe the latest in a rash of deadly bus bombings which claimed eight lives.The US bomb experts, who have been training local forces in counter-terrorism, examined the scene after the explosion in Bansalan town late Friday.Small groups of US troops have been serving in Mindanao where they train local soldiers to battle Muslim extremists such as Abu Sayyaf, which both Manila and Washington have linked to the al-Qaeda terror network.

Caro stressed, however, that the police did not ask for any assistance from the Americans or from any foreign forensic experts. “We have not requested for any help from the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) or any other foreign group with the incident. We were expecting only the team from the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame,” Caro said.

Hundreds of Boys rescued from Somali Mosque

Mogadishu mayor, Mohammed Dheere, told journalists last week that a joint Ethiopian and Somali military operation to hunt down remnants of the routed Islamists facilitated the seizure of one thousand young boys in the mosque.

"We rescued 1,000 young boys, most of them under the age of 16 from the Islamists. They have told us they were trained to be suicide bombers.

Anyway we will release them once their parents contact us," he said.

Pro-hijab rally in Brussels

From Press TV. Taking a page from their lefty friends, the Belgian Islamists have decided it's all about their right to CHOOSE.

Residents in the Belgian capital have gathered to demonstrate their support of Islamic hijab as a freedom of choice for Muslim European women. Demonstrators took part in protests in Brussels Saturday against a decision by several school authorities to ban hijab, the Al Alam news channel reported.

Among the protestors were members of Islamic organizations, independent human rights groups and Muslim students. The demonstrators condemned what they said is an anti-Islam stance taken by officials in Belgium and supported the right of Muslims to freely practice the customs of their religion.

Hmm. Customs of their religion... I wonder if that includes flying jumbo jets into buildings, exploding car bombs, beheadings and the like.

A video CD sent to the offices of a local news agency Friday, apparently on behalf of the Al-Qaeda terror group, declared holy war on India and named half-a-dozen local leaders on a hit-list.

The VCD showed a lone masked man, who called himself Abu Abdul Rehman Al Ansari and claimed to be the chief of Al-Qaeda in India.

'Al-Qaeda today declares 'jihad' against India and Jammu and Kashmir shall be the gateway for this jihad,' the speaker said.

Italian police have arrested at least 10 suspected Islamist militants who are believed to be linked to the bombings that rocked Algiers in April. The suspects, held in Milan, allegedly provided logistical and financial support for the militants in Algeria.

Two blasts killed at least 30 people and injured 160 in Algiers.

A group called the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat said it carried out the attacks. It later changed its name to al-Qaeda in the Maghreb. Police said the suspects were also believed to be linked to Islamist activities in Tunisia in January. The Milan suspects are reported to be Tunisians.

One of those targeted by police was named as Essid Sami Ben Khemais. He was about to leave jail after serving a sentence of six years and two months, but now a new detention warrant has been served for him, the Italian news website Il Giornale says.

The police raids followed a tip-off from Tlili Lazar, an Islamist extradited from France in November 2006, who is now co-operating with police, Il Giornale says.

If it walks like an Islamist, if it talks like an Islamist and more importantly if it BLOWS UP like an Islamist, guess what? It is an Islamist. No quotes necessary.

As we now know, the extended Duka family (three brothers, a grandmother, parents, wives, children) was in the habit of slaughtering lambs in their backyard with a kitchen knife. There were numerous complaints about fetid diapers tossed into an open trash dumpster that sat in the driveway, near an array of cars and pickup trucks without registration or license plates. Roosters ran about their yard, and juveniles roamed the neighborhood, sometimes setting off fireworks.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that police cited the Dukas repeatedly on disorderly persons charges, including marijuana possession, improper behavior, prowling, disturbing the peace, and obstructing the administration of law; they were fined between $20 and $830 on various occasions. The brothers were also issued some 50 traffic citations between 1997 and 2006 for speeding, driving without licenses, driving while on the suspended list, failure to appear in court, and other charges. They parked oversize trucks on the streets and operated unauthorized roofing business from home. But despite the attention from Cherry Hill code enforcers and police officers—who were called to the Duka home at least 10 times over the last seven years—their lifestyle of choice continued unhindered until they and three other Muslims (one of them also Albanian) were arrested four weeks ago.

Because of the Dukas’ behavior at least two families decided to move from the tree-lined street. According to the Inquirer, “a couple who requested that their last name not be published because they fear reprisals said they were one of the families who moved.”

The scary part.

As Cherry Hill Mayor Bernie Platt commented on his township in the aftermath of the Duka case, “It’s a very progressive community.” True to his ideals, only last month Mr. Platt declared, at the ground-breaking ceremony for an Islamic house of worship in Cherry Hill, “We have many religions here . . . now, thank God, we’re going to have a mosque.”

Pakistan: "Millitants" threaten music shops

No ring tones or hash for you!

PESHAWAR, Pakistan -- Pro-Taliban militants have warned music and video shops as well as clandestine hashish and alcohol outlets in a northwest Pakistan town to close down, local residents said Saturday.

The threat came in pamphlets distributed in Darra Adam Khel town, some 25 kilometers (15 miles) from Peshawar, the main town in North West Frontier Province bordering Afghanistan.

At least 10 music shops in the region have suffered grenade attacks by militants over the past eight months. The latest threats also warned shopkeepers to stop downloading songs as mobile telephone ringtones.

"The Taliban have set July 1 as a deadline to abandon all un-Islamic business in the area," local resident Murtza Khan said. "All the music shops in this area are closing now," shopkeeper Jan Alam said.

GOULDSBORO, Pa. -- Cassy Herman booked two unforgettable renters last winter for her Pocono Mountain vacation property. First came Eljvir Duka, a 23-year-old Cherry Hill resident, who wanted the Gouldsboro, Pa., house on Feb. 1. Duka offered Her man a $900 cash deposit in early December; she took it.

Six weeks later, a second man asked to lease the property for the end of January. He promised to leave hours before Herman's next renter arrived. Again, she agreed. But something gnawed at Her man as she hung up the phone. So she picked it up, redialed the last number on her caller ID and listened in stunned silence at what came next.

"FBI," a voice answered.

I couldn't believe it when I read how boneheaded the FBI was with that one! Until I read about this BIG boneheaded move. Talk about Keystone Cops!

One of the odder moments outlined in the FBI affidavit occurred at a local convenience store early the next day. As Eljvir and Dritan Duka wandered into the store, they recognized another customer -- the undercover agent who had been at the firing range -- and began chatting with him about guns. They allegedly asked their new acquaintance if he knew where they could buy assault rifles. Dritan Duka told the agent they wanted Russian AK-47s, not the cheaper Chinese version, be cause the Russian model was sturdier and easier to bury in the dirt or sand, according to the complaint. It's not clear how the agent responded.

About that week:
At least 14 people crowded into Herman's house that week, a band of chatty, vodka-swilling young men who included roofers, a baker and a cab driver. Agents recorded a key defendant claiming that all of them -- "less one or two" -- planned to participate in the at tack. In the end, prosecutors charged only four on the trip -- Duka; his brothers, Shain and Dritan; and another man from Cherry Hill, Muhamad Ibrahim Shnewer. Those four and a fifth, Serdar Tatar of Philadelphia, were charged with terror conspiracy. A sixth defendant, Agron Abdullahu of Atlantic County, is accused of supplying guns to the plotters.

About Gouldsboro and the house they rented from Herman:
North of Allentown and south of Scranton, Gouldsboro straddles two townships that claim about 3,000 residents, a total that ebbs and flows depending on the season. Its biggest commodities might be the same ones all hamlets seek: peace, quiet, isolation.

Small lakes dot the landscape, as does a 2,800-acre state park. An Army tank sits outside the local American Legion post, where veterans share drinks along a dark, smoky bar. There's a gas station, a convenience store and a shooting range. The Stars and Stripes fly from every other telephone pole on Main Street. Flags honoring U.S. prisoners of war hang on the rest.

On a Web site, Herman advertises her house as the only one of its kind in the gated development called Big Bass Lake. Filling 5,000 square feet, the house sports a hot tub and sauna, a 62-inch television in the master suite and an outdoor fireplace "for roasting marshmallows."

Sounds lovely, doesn't it? My question: Where did the money come from to fund this little outing...there's lots more good Sunday morning reading at the link. I especially liked reading how the attorneys are calling this terror confab "a vacation" and an "open house." Yeah, right.

Scaredy Cat Stevens: Nervous of Beards

Yes I had a beard as Cat Stevens but now I have grown wiser and my beard is longer," he said.

Supreme Leader commends Iranian workers...

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Monday highlighted the significant status of labor in the country's economic development. In a meeting with several thousand workers in Tehran on the eve of Labor day, May 1, the Supreme Leader said that the government should draw up a suitable program to clarify relations between the workers and investors and help remove the concerns mainly that of the labors.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that clarified relationship between the labors and investors is effective to speed up economic boom through proper investment and generating value added.

Islam has dignified the glorious status of workers, said the Supreme Leader, adding that our laborers have always stood by the Islamic Revolution in the campaign against political plots and never abandoned their efforts to reconstruct the country.

Iranian laborers are very pious, noble, revolutionary and committed to the aspirations of the Islamic Revolution, pointed out the Supreme Leader.

Al Qaeda in Iraq Security Emir Killed.

Coalition Forces positively identified a terrorist killed in an operation April 20 northwest of Baghdad. Muhammad Abdullah Abbas al-Issawi, also known as Abu Abd al-Sattar and Abu Akram, was a known al-Qaeda terrorist leader known to operate in Karmah and Ameriyah Abu Abd al-Sattar had links to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and was reported to have been in contact with him since late 2004, up to al-Zarqawi's death. He was also a weapons supplier to insurgent forces fighting against the Iraqi Army, Iraqi Police and Coalition Forces, and had links to the recent surge in chlorine VBIED attacks across Iraq.

Intelligence reports also indicate that his VBIED cell used 12- to 13-year-old children as VBIED drivers.

"Abu Abd al-Satter's death is a serious disruption to al-Qaeda in Iraq's VBIED network," said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, MNF-I spokesperson. "This represents one more victory in the war against those that would deny safety and security to the Iraqi people."areas and was the al-Qaeda in Iraq Security Emir of the eastern Anbar Province.

The U.S. military in Iraq launched an artillery barrage in southern Baghdad on Sunday against suspected insurgent targets, with two dozen loud explosions shaking the southern outskirts of the capital. U.S. military spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher Garver said the morning blasts, which were heard across the city, were caused by U.S. artillery but declined to say what the target was.

Those who claim to have killed him say Britain is somehow responsible, inspite of the fact that they kidnapped him, (or appropriated him from a ringer,) and claim to have murdered him.

"The whole world knows of our just cause in demanding the release of our prisoners, who are waiting under the fire of the occupation," the statement began. "Our demand was that all of those who are responsible for the journalist... release our prisoners who are being held in the prisons of the occupation," it continued.

Despite the fact that these groups are notorious liars about their claims, they may have actually taken his life. Either way, it’s your fault. Islamist porn to follow:

From Australia: Pro Terrorism films banned within a fortnight.

The Federal Government hopes it will be able to ban pro-terrorism films within a fortnight, following the classification of a race hate DVD urging children to martyr themselves.

The film, which calls for the murder of infidels and describes Jews as "pigs'', received a PG rating from the Office of Film and Literature Classification, making it suitable to be bought and watched by children.

WTF? A PG RATING???

Mr Ruddock (the Australian Attorney General) said the states had agreed to toughen laws for material that praised terrorism following passage of federal terrorism legislation in 2005, but that there should be no further delays in the states enacting the changes. If the states and territories continued to resist, as they had done for more than a year, then he might be forced to go it alone and make the relevant change to the Commonwealth's Classification Act, he said.

I guess Australia has blue states, too. Oh, and about the film? You guessed it - the religion of peace strikes again.

The film is contained in a package of DVDs prepared by Australian-born Islamic cleric Sheik Feiz Mohammed, who is currently in exile in Lebanon, but reported to be still preaching jihad to his Australian followers by telephone. His film calls for the murder of non-believers in Islam's war on the west, News Limited reported today.

Ansar-al Sunna's Top 20

Bastards.

Calling it the "Top 20" Iraqi militant group Ansar al-Sunna has posted on the internet a series of video images it says represent the most devastating roadside bomb attacks agains US troops in Iraq. The footage which lasts seven minutes shows 20 separate attacks which, a voiceover narrator explains "serve to encourage the mujahadeen to Jihad and to place them in a competition amongst each other against their enemy."

The narrator explains that the position images reach on the Top 20 "chart" is based on the extent to which they fulfil the following criteria: "importance of the target, position taken by the person filming the attack, the quality of the footage, the accuracy in hitting the target, the 'quality' of the explosion, and footage taken after the attack."

These people are just sick.
