Britain has provoked al Qaeda into a possible terror attack by knighting Salman Rushdie, one of Iran's top religious leaders has exclusively told Sky News. The terror group has warned there will be a retaliatory strike against the UK following the novelist's honour. In response, Iran's Grand Ayatollah Saanei has told Sky News:

"When your Queen awards Salman Rushdie and turns him into a knight, what do you expect? This is a blasphemy. This is an insult to all the prophets of the world. Apart from the fact that this issue insults all the religions of the world, the terrorists can use this as a pretext and do something against Britain. This act of the Queen was a very, very vast action against Islam."

Palestinian Intelligence fingers Iran in Gaza Seizure. Why are we not surprised? Why are we even less surprised when Iran issues denials and blames it all on the Zionists and America?

Iran played a "big role" in Hamas's seizure of Gaza from Palestinian security forces earlier this month, Palestinian intelligence chief Tawfiq al-Tirawi charged on Sunday.

The Islamists swiftly dismissed the accusation as "lies".

"According to our information, Iran has played a big role in what happened in Gaza. Dozens of members of Hamas have been trained in Iran, and Hamas smuggled in weapons through tunnels not to fight Israel but against the Palestinian Authority," Tirawi told a news conference.

"The whole plan has been carried out in coordination with Iran, and Iran has been informed of every step," he added.

Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas previously accused "foreign elements from the region" of orchestrating Hamas's bloody takeover, but it was the first time that a senior official explicitly blamed Iran.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri retorted that "Tirawi's accusations are lies", while acknowledging that Hamas enjoys good relations with the Islamic republic as well as other Muslim states. "It is known that Hamas has balanced relations with all Arab and Islamic countries," he told AFP. "Hamas is proud that it enjoys this strategic depth in the Arab and Islamic world at a time when Tirawi's friends are vaunting their relations with the (Israeli) occupation and the United States."

Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit last week levelled similar accusations against Iran, charging that it had encouraged the Palestinian Islamist movement to seize the neighbouring Gaza Strip.

Iran hit back against the minister's comments on Sunday, insisting that it, unlike Egypt's Western allies and Israel, had been careful not to fan the factional conflict. "It is surprising that some Arab countries ignore the Western countries, the United States and the Zionist regime... and point an accusing finger at us who have had the most responsible approach," foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said.

Iran is one of the most vocal backers of the Islamic Resistance Movement and pledged millions of dollars in 2006 to help the Hamas government through a funding drought caused by Western aid cuts. But Hosseini said Iran supports Hamas "politically and spiritually" and that the "humanitarian aid would be provided through channels that benefit all Palestinian people."

Tehran has always insisted its support for Palestinian militant groups is moral in nature and does not extend to arming or training fighters.

Moral in nature? Don't make me laugh.

This news report tallies the harvest of the military operations carried out by the Mujahideen of the Islamic State of Iraq, may Allah honor it, for some areas of al-Doura in Baghdad province from April 16 - April 19, 2007, all praise and gratitude be to Allah.

1. Killed four apostate soldiers with sniper fire in various locations in the Doura region on Tuesday April 17, 2007.

2. Attacking thirteen control points and joint forces patrols in various locations in the Doura region with small and medium-sized weapons, sniper fire, RPG’s and missiles. Several vechiles were destroyed and a large number of enemy soldiers were killed and wounded on Tuesday April 17, 2007.

3. Carried out the Law of Allah against Mohammed Imad Kadhem, an important spy working for the American cross worshipper army in Baghdad. The execution was held on Tuesday April 17, 2007.

4. Slaughtered two members of the Dajjal army working for the Interior and Power Ministries on Wednesday April 18, 2007.

5. Assassinated a member of the Badr corps working for the Power Ministry on Sinin Street on Wednesday April 18, 2007.

6. A sniper shot and killed an army in Al-Kafat region on Monday April 16, 2007.

7. Detonated a bomb at a cross worshipper Humvee that destroyed it, killing and wounding all soldiers on board in the Asiaha district on Monday Monday April 16, 2007.

8. Detonated a bomb at an army vehicle that destroyed it and killed and injured all those on board in the Shuhada district on Monday April 16, 2007.

9. Attacked an observation tower in the al-Kafat district with sniper fire causing enemy casualties on Monday April 16, 2007.

17. Engaged the cross worshippers and apostate joint forces in violent battle in al-Karq using light and medium-sized weapons, RPG missiles and personal weapons that continued for some time. Several of the enemy’s vehicles were damaged, an armored vehicle was destroyed and all passengers on board were killed and injured on Tuesday April 17, 2007.

18. Attacked a joint forces convoy using light and medium-sized weapons and RPG’s in the Shuhada district that damaged several vehicles and caused casualties among the passengers on Wednesday April 18, 2007.

19. Carried out the Law of Allah against a member of the Badr corps, taking his personal vehicle as booty in the al-Doura district region on Wednesday April 18, 2007.

20. A sniper shot a US soldier inside an American base in the Mecanic district on Wednesday April 18, 2007.

21. Attacked on of the observation towers at the US base in the Mecanic district causing enemy casualties on Wednesday April 18, 2007.

22. Detonated a bomb at a cross worshippers Humvee, killing and inuring all those on board in the al-Mahdiya al-Thaniyah district on Thursday April 19, 2007.

These operations are part of the Al-Karama (Honor) Expedition, declared by Sheikh Abu Omar Al-Baghdadi, Amir of the Islamic State of Iraq, may Allah protect him.

Cross worshippers. They really do take us for fools, don't they. How dare Ibrahim Hooper of CAIR say this...and with a straight face, no less.

CAIR also requested that media outlets and public officials refrain from linking this case to the faith of Islam.

Ibrahim you are smoking something if you don't come out and tell the truth about Islam and terrorism. C'mon baby. You can do it. Just say it. It will set you free and maybe then we can have a meaningful dialogue. Cause until you admit that the majority of terrorists down through the ages have been Islamic, key phrase - down through the ages, we are not going to make any progress here.

I pray for the cross worshippers and their families around the region.

May God bless our brave troops and protect them from our enemies as they fight to bring lasting peace to Iraq.

Al Qaeda has a new enemy in town...

From AKI: New Cartel joins anti Al Qaeda front.

Three of the most important Iraqi insurgent groups have formed a new cartel calling itself the Jihad and Reform Front in what appears further evidence of the isolation of al-Qaeda in Iraq.
The Islamic Army in Iraq, the Mujahadeen Army, and the splinter group of the Army of Ansar al-Sunna known as the Sharia Committee have joined forces. Though not explicitly stated in the foundation document posted to Islamist internet sites on Thursday, the group has a clear anti al-Qaeda role, challenging the principles and strategies of its armed struggle."

The group's aim is to continue the resistance in Iraq and throw out the occupiers but at the same time to restate that Jihadi operations will strike the occupiers and their agents and not innocent civilians whom we should protect," reads the statement. The new cartel goes on to ask the Islamist militiamen to think seriously about the consequences of their attacks before carrying them.

These words, and the final part of the document which refers to an interpretation of Sharia law which can change according to the requirements of a military strategy, appear to be a pointed criticism of al-Qaeda in Iraq which is increasingly isolated within the insurgency. The terms of reference of the document, which used religious language, are exclusively Iraqi with no reference to global jihad.

Americans for weeks woke up and went to bed to news updates about Anna Nicole Smith’s death and the fate of her daughter.

Then, we seemed to go into near national paralysis over Don Imus’s “hos” slur — yes, including this writer, who wrote half a column on his arrogance. But then actor Alec Baldwin came to the rescue screaming, “Pig!,” at his poor 11-year-old daughter — and, of course, accepting Dr. Phil’s televised offer of intervention.

The media run with this trivia because they know it will hook viewers. But why do we care about this transient fluff? After all, it’s not as if there hasn’t been real news this spring.

To recap just some of what’s been going on while we waste our time following spats between Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump: We are reaching the 11th hour in Iraq, as Gen. David Petraeus surges troops to secure Baghdad and stabilize a fragile democracy before the Democrats cut off funds for the war effort.

The future of much of the Middle East hangs in the balance. Last week, jihadists who were planning to blow up an oil field in Saudi Arabia were arrested. And according to a leaked memo from British intelligence, others plot new major attacks.
