Saudi Arabia: Young Men Not Allowed

"And it's the young women who are to blame"

This is a sign that proudly hangs at the entrances of supermarkets and shopping malls across Riyadh, and is directed at all men above the age of 16. It is an annoying sign for many, especially since in some parts of the Kingdom this rule is not adhered to.

Many youngsters are fed up and are calling on security guards and the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice to give them a break. One high school student told Arab News: “This is something we see wherever we go. Is this rule only applied to Riyadh? In Jeddah and the whole of the Eastern Province the situation is quite different.”

Speaking about the situation in Jeddah, he said: “Youngsters in Jeddah are free to go anywhere. Why is that? Are we all bad in Riyadh? Why is it that all Saudi young men in Riyadh are punished because of the wrongdoings of a few?”

The youngster, who did not want to be named, said the situation was unfair. “We feel wronged because women are the source of problems and can go anywhere they want wearing fashionable clothes under their abayas. They wear provocative clothes and the only people who are punished are the ones who bother them. Young women are to blame,” he said.

Divorce: Arabian Style

High Divorce Rates Alarm Gulf States.

Yet to attain the heights of industrialized countries, divorce rates have been climbing in every Arab Gulf state. In Saudi Arabia, a divorce rate of some 20 percent was reported in the last couple of years. Translated into real numbers, this means that 33 Saudi women get divorced daily. The high court in Jeddah reported last year divorce rates in the Red Sea city had jumped by 60 percent over the previous two years while it reached 39 percent in the capital Riyadh. In a symposium held late last year in Kuwait, a study presented by Dr. Abdulaziz Alahmed estimates the divorce rate in Kuwait at over 25% while in Qatar at 38%. In the UAE, the rate amounted to 46%. The statistics have created intense debates over the issue with experts cite many reasons for the staggering figures which alarmed local government officials and religious leaders.

Those newfangled career gals...
The rapid technological development the GCC states witnessed in the past decades is one of the major reasons for the rise in divorce rates, according to social experts. The "oil boom" gave a boost to women's education, but this has not been accompanied by a parallel change in traditions and attitudes. Thus, many men, experts claim, don't know how to cope with educated women.

The most telling paragraph at all...
Experts also claim that the strict rules segregating the sexes are blocking the couples from creating "normal" relations after they get married. In a conservative country like Saudi Arabia couples simply can't go out before they get married, and some don't see their spouses until their wedding night. Even after they get married, it is difficult for couples to go out together.

I wonder if they get my favorite soap, The Young and The Restless?
In a recent seminar held in Riyadh, many specialists claimed the proliferation of TV shows which do not reflect traditional and local values as a principle culprit. One study even indicated that 78 percent of Saudi youth rely on mass media for their sex education.

The second most telling paragraph. New fatwas from the He-Man-Woman-Haters-Club.:
Other types of marriages with less economic responsibilities for the husbands also damaged the tradition. Among these are “summer marriages” and “Mesyar marriage” whereby they relieve men of financial responsibilities and other obligations, including having to reveal them to family or other wives. The popularity of these arrangments have grown in the Gulf after new fatwas (Islamic edicts) supported them.

As things seem at this stage, it is likely to assume that divorce rate in the Gulf region will continue to rise unless authorities take serious steps to curb it.

Look for a rash of honor killings, stonings, floggings and hangings.

Sex and the Muslim boys

Now, I'm no touchy-feely, round heeled lib or anything but I've always said that all of this Muslim violence can be traced directly to the sexual repression that is Islam. It looks like others are feeling the same way.

"Clearly, their behavior was not a religious expression of Islam. In what is perhaps the greatest distortion of Islam (and radical adherents of other religions), there are a whole cadre of ‘born again’ Muslims that know little of their faith, but believe that the great service they give back to the ummah- the butcher and slaughter of innocents, somehow obviates them from the study and application of their faith and that somehow, their dysfunctions (more often that not, drinking, whoring, lying ‘in the name of Allah’ and engaging in criminal activity of all kinds against both Muslims and non Muslims) are less important and thus forgivable as merely minor infractions."

Read it all courtesy of Sigmund, Carl and Alfred.

Is there a positive correlation between Muslims and Sexual Offenses? This study from Sir Henry Wilson of Reconquista, sure makes it look that way. (hat tip Infidel Bloggers Alliance)

And today Sir Henry Wilson sends word that he's done some number-crunching on crime-stats. Fjordman has been maintaining for some time that sex-crimes and a muslim population seem to be correlated. Now Sir Henry Wilson relates sexual crime statistics from the London metropolitan police to census data of the London metropolitan area. More specifically, he relates sex-crime statistics to the presence (in % of the population) of different religious groups.

The actress, the Internet, the sex film and Iran I read stuff like this and I have to wonder where are all those Hollywood libs? Then I think, "Oh, they must be off getting measured for their dhimmi hijabs."

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Sex films, soap stars and international fugitives were an unheard of combination on the front pages of newspapers in conservative Muslim Iran until now.
For Western readers who regularly feast on celebrity antics in popular scandal sheets, a grainy film of sexual activity is probably no big deal. But Iranians have been transfixed by a judicial inquiry into media reports that a budding starlet is the woman in a graphic film widely distributed across the Internet.

The starlet denies she is the woman in the film. The man who appears in the movie is said to have fled the country. The punishment if either are found guilty could be severe.
"If the man is caught we will jail him for at least six months, up to a year," said an Iranian judiciary official who declined to be named. "He will face charges of distributing immoral material."

But worse could come for the young woman.

Those convicted of such crimes can face a range of punishments ranging from lashes to imprisonment or even death if the woman is married and is thus committing adultery.

An Iranian woman was stoned to death in 2001 for appearing in a home-made pornographic movie, though authorities have since officially banned stoning. Investigators examining that film tracked the woman down by reading the number on the electricity meter in the background of the film.
(Ed.note: Can you believe that sh*%?)

Poppycock and Kidneys...

These Royals really need to get with the program. 'Islamic' Camilla dumps poppy The aide said the plastic flower had got in the way of her cashmere Islamic-style dupatta scarf, worn to show respect for the traditions of her Muslim hosts."It was catching on her scarf so she was advised it was best to take it off," he said. "She was advised it was better to wear the scarf rather than the poppy."

The Iranians can't get their oil bourse up and running but they can handle a KIDNEY EXCHANGE: Iran's desperate kidney traders At the Tehran branch of the Association of Kidney Patients, one of many agencies set up to facilitate the trade, the reception is full of people. In the narrow, drab corridors, people are waiting in line, either to fill in forms, answer questions, undergo tests or be X-rayed, and finally to be operated on. Activity is intense, bordering on the chaotic. Registers are filled in, photographs of patients are pasted onto small cards, and the telephone rings endlessly. Prices are inquired about and haggled over. Some people get upset at what they see as low prices and leave in anger.

Hoo-boy! Turkey: Archeologist Claims Islamic Headscarf Derives From Sex Rites. Courtesy of Western Resistance. Turkey has a strange habit of enforcing Article 301 of its penal code, which insults "Turkishness". This has been used to prosecute numerous artists, cartoonists, editors, and most famously, the Nobel-prize winning author Orhan Pamuk. The law is often used by the Islamist prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to prosecute anyone who satirizes him.
The latest bizarre prosecution involves a 92-year old woman, female archeologist Muazzez Ilmiye Cig, who is being prosecuted for "inciting religious hatred" states the
Jerusalem Post, the Australian, Web Islam and Middle East Times. Her alleged "crime" is that she has suggested that the "Islamic" headscarf originally derives from sexual rites from Sumer.

Vive Le France - a tip of the chapeau to No Pasaran: As of 2 hours ago (6AM CET), Police have converged on several Marseille housing projects, all in the same neighborhood, in an attempt to arrest the French youths who torched a bus Saturday evening. MosqueRat Love - with apologies to Captain & Tennille.

Sex in a Mosque

NAIVASHA, Kenya (Reuters) - A couple caught having sex in a Kenyan mosque during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan have been sentenced to 18 months jail for what the judge called an "abominable" affront to religion. Peter Kimani and Jennifer Wairimu pleaded guilty to the charge of having sex in a place of worship after being caught on October 3 at the Abubakar mosque in Gilgil, about 60 miles north of Nairobi. Neither is a Muslim. A worshipper heading for evening prayers found the couple having sex after investigating what the prosecution described as strange noises emanating from a dark corner of the mosque. Kimani and Wairimu both pleaded for clemency at Monday's hearing, saying they were too drunk to know where they were. Kimani told the court he thought he was in a lodging house. John King'ori, senior magistrate in nearby Naivasha, dismissed their plea. "Having sex in a mosque is a most abominable thing to religion and only a custodial sentence can add justice to this," he said.

Kenya's Rape Problem

From al-Reuters, so consider the source.

Kenya passes laws to fight "epidemic of rape"

Kenya has passed new laws intended to stem the country's "epidemic of rape" and other sexual offences but women's rights groups expressed outrage on Thursday saying protections for married women were dropped. One woman is raped every 30 seconds in Kenya, according to the government, and the local media regularly run stories of fathers violating small daughters, sometimes leaving them dead.
There's more left to do.
"The fact that Kenya finally has a law consolidating all the sexual offences is a huge step to eradicate the epidemic of rape in this country," MP Njoki Ndung'u told Reuters.

But some women's activists said the essence of the bill was diluted after amendments were passed deleting clauses that criminalised marital rape and outlawed forced circumcision of adult women.

"It is not what we bargained for. We were not happy with the removal of female circumcision and marital rape from the bill," Jane Onyango, chair of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, told Reuters.

What a Mujahideen Really Wants? Sons raised on gunpowder and milk.

From SITE:

A series of message (sic)regarding the Muslim woman and her role in supporting Islam and the mujahideen were recently posted to jihadist forums. One document, titled: “What Do the Mujahideen Want from a Muslim Woman?,” written by Abu Omar Abdul Bar, charges that the war launched by the West against Islam is not limited to direct military action, but it also seeks to affect change in economic, social and character levels. In this regard, Abu Omar believes that the enemy is trying to alienate Muslim women within their community and to “spoil them” and provoke them against Muslim society. As opposed to the Western desire to make a “cheap commodity” of a woman, the message advocates the role of a woman as a mujahid, citing various examples of female mujahideen in Muslim history.

Abu Omar writes that a Muslim woman should support the mujahideen, feed her sons “gunpowder with milk” and raise them in the spirit of jihad. He also states: “we want from her to be a factory of heroes and her house to be a lion’s den”. Similarly, another message views the role of women in Islam and entry to Paradise in the context of the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad. The author provides eleven examples of Muslim women practicing austerity, praying in accordance with Islamic law, and maintaining fealty towards their husbands.
Sorry ladies, but this reminds me of a joke. Here you go.
Two Arab mothers are sitting in the cafe chatting over a pint of goat's milk.

The older of the mothers pulls her handbag out and starts flipping through family photos, and they start reminiscing. "This is my oldest son Mohammed. He's 24 years old now."

"Yes, I remember him as a baby" says the other mother cheerfully.

"He's a martyr now though" mum confides.

"Oh, so sad dear," says the other.

And this is my second son, Kalid. He's 21."

"Oh, I remember him," says the other happily, "he had such curly hair when he was born."

"He's a martyr too." says mum quietly.

"Oh gracious me ...." says the other.

"And this is my third son. My baby. My beautiful Ahmed. He's 18." she whispers.

"Yes" says, the friend enthusiastically, "I remember when he first started school".

"He's a martyr also," says mum, with tears in her eyes.

After a pause and a deep sigh, the second Muslim mother looks wistfully at the photographs and says...

"They blow up so fast, don't they?"
