Morocco out of Iraq now!

Moroccan security forces put on maximum alert.
RABAT (AFP) - Morocco's security forces were on maximum alert on Saturday after "established terror threats" by what experts said was the regional branch of Al-Qaeda.

Interior Minister Chakib Benmoussa informed the country's security experts on Friday of a "current threat" against the north-west African country.

"Reliable information relayed in recent days to the interior ministry described the preparation of acts of terrorism in Morocco," a Moroccan security source told AFP on condition of anonymity. "Morocco is cooperating fully with foreign police services," the source said, adding that in the face of the threat, Morocco "is putting itself in a situation of extreme vigilance."

Funny. FBI Director Robert Mueller was in Rabat just last Friday. What a coinkydink.

I don't know, I'm not feeling too charitable after that Glasgow bombing

Islamic Relief launches Action for Africa appeal. Take their case to Scottish Parliament.

Officials from British Muslim charity, Islamic Relief, have appealed to the Scottish parliament to help raise awareness of the humanitarian impact of conflict and famine in areas such as Darfur, Niger, Mali and Somalia. Makki Hamid, Islamic Relief’s Head of Africa Region, was part of the team briefing Scottish MPs after returning from Darfur, Niger and Mali.

"The situation in Darfur is chaotic - at least 20 groups are fighting each other, while the ancient reconciliation process based on the traditional tribal system has been destroyed by years of military regime,” Hamid told Adnkronos International (AKI) in an interview."Contrarily to how it is portrayed in the media, this conflict is not a religious one, such as the one in Southern Sudan, where it is Muslims against Christians. This [Darfur] is Muslims fighting other Muslims over resources and unresolved land disputes between farmers and nomads,” he said.

Oh - like that makes it different? It's still Muslim nutjobs going off. Even worse, listen to this reference to the dhimmis in Westminister.

The visit to the Scottish parliament, which was promoted by the first Muslim Scottish MP, Bashir Ahmad, included a presentation of the charity’s activities in Africa and a questions-and -answers session with a group of parliamentarians.Habib Malik, Islamic Relief’s coordinator for Scotland, welcomed the opportunity to speak at the Scottish Parliament and said this kind of initiatives should be “of inspiration for what is done down at Westminster (Seat of the English parliament).”

And get a load of this line of Islamospeak...

“Islamic charities can play a fundamental role there because they have a better understanding of people’s needs, and not only the material ones.” “We use quotes from the Koran to persuade them that Islam does not support any of their violence,” he said.

Charity begins at home. Perhaps instead of going to Africa they could use some of those quotes on the ones who are blowing all that stuff up in the UK.

Sudanese Rape injustice - I'm smelling sharia law

And it stinks - even more alarming? I actually find myself in agreement with people like Gov. Bill Richardson of NM and Refugees International ....I'm telling you, you'd better repent for the end is surely near...

The Washington-based organisation Refugees International today has released a report - "Laws Without Justice: An assessment of Sudanese laws affecting survivors of rape" - looking into the Sudanese legislation. The analysis came to shocking conclusions on how rape victims in Sudan are denied justice, especially in war-ravaged Darfur.

The study resulted from a January meeting between Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson. During this visit, the officials in Sudan's Ministry of Justice extended an invitation to analyse the government's purported efforts to address sexual violence against Sudanese women. Refugees International president Ken Bacon, who was in the Richardson delegation, accepted this invitation, and lawyer Ms Fricke and Amira Khair, a Sudanese human rights advocate, met in Khartoum in March to interview people with knowledge about the crisis of rape in Darfur. "

After a week, the Sudanese government turned uncooperative and gave 24 hours to leave the country," the organisation however claims.

Rape of Darfuri women on a mass scale is one of the hallmarks of the conflict in Darfur. Several analysts claim it is part of a calculated plan to destroy communities and contributes directly to ethnic cleansing.

If a woman cannot prove that she did not consent to intercourse, she can be accused of adultery - a crime that carries a sentence of one hundred lashes or even stoning - even if she was raped.

Sudan's laws also grant immunity to members of the military, security services, police and border guards. Many members of the Janjaweed militias that carry out the worst atrocities in Darfur are integrated in the Popular Defence Forces, which is also exempt from prosecution. The Khartoum government also was said to "harass organisations who work with rape victims and doctors who provide medical treatment to raped women."

The dead giveaway this study and article was written by a bunch of lefty sympathisers?

The word Muslim Mohammedan was not mentioned ONCE despite the fact that Sudanese rape laws are clearly based on Sharia law and the Janjaweed are Mohammedans.

Zimbabwe: A snapshot from Cathy Buckle

Anonymous mentioned that he/she thought that it might be a good idea if Iran was reduced to the economic status of Zimbabwe in a previous comment. I thought it might be a good idea to give you an indication of what he was talking about.

From Cathy Buckle's Letters.

From her letter of June 16, 2007

Dear Family and Friends,
I stood for over forty minutes in a line at the bank to withdraw my own money this week - its not unusual to have to queue for even longer than this. There was no electricity - again - so the ATM machines were not working - again. Even if the ATM's were working, those queues often need an hour and a half to get to the front. Because of the oppressive, iron-fist regulations from Harare, individuals are only allowed to withdraw one and a half million dollars at a time from the bank - even if they have just deposited a hundred times that amount the same day. The bank charges a 'handling fee' for the withdrawal of amounts of one and a half million dollars or less but you can cannot withdraw more without applying for permission from the Reserve Bank in Harare.

To put all these figures in perspective, let me explain! You have to stand in a queue in the bank for four days in a row - each day drawing out the maximum amount, each day paying the 'handling fee," in order to purchase one tank of fuel for your car .

Three days of maximum withdrawals will give you enough for one filling at the dentist. By the time you've got enough money together, the prices will have gone up again but for most of us all these things are just dreams anyway because now even a visit to the dentist has become an unaffordable luxury. Who would ever have imagined that a dental visit would be thought of as a luxury!

And this from her latest one - dated June 23, 2007.

...Government agricultural voices have begun warning that quelea birds are preparing to decimate the country's winter wheat crop - the crop that either wasn't planted in the first place or hasn't been watered because there's been no electricity for the irrigation pumps.

We are told that there is only one aeroplane in the country that can be used to spray the birds and apparently four are needed to "cover the whole crop". Its not being said if the whole crop consists of 8 thousand hectares spread out in lots of little squares or if its actually 76 thousand hectares.

Keeping up with both the facts and the propaganda about events in Zimbabwe has become almost impossible as electricity cuts silence all but the most determined and innovative lines of communication. It took a message from outside of Zimbabwe to tell me what our Minister of Lands said this week and for millions of cold, tired and hungry Zimbabweans, they are sickening words. Lands Minister Didymus Mutasa said: "The position is that food shortages or no food shortages, we are going ahead to remove the remaining whites. We would all rather die of hunger but knowing full well that the land is in the hands of black people."
Until next week, thanks for reading, love cathy.

Hard to imagine, isn't it?

As if Somalia didn't have enough trouble...

Locusts devastate orchards of north Somalia

As if war and hunger were not enough, swarms of locusts have appeared in Somalia, blotting out the sky and destroying orchards.

Millions of the insects appeared three days ago in the semi-autonomous northeastern province of Puntland, stripping bare hundreds of acres of mango, orange and pawpaw farms.

Around the Horn in Africa

11 Bombs timed to go off exactly at curfew rock Mogadishu. Five districts hit, no reported casualties or injuries. There's inter-clan warfare in Kismayo. Al Qaeda has formed a new group in Somalia named Shabbab. They're long on fanaticism, short on skills according to this report.

A Somali MP escapes assasination attempt. First assassination attempt on a Somali parliamentarian since the Ethiopian-backed Somali government routed out the Union of Islamic Courts.

Secret SAS mission to Somalia uncovers Brit terror cell members. Fortunately they were already dead. Turns out to be kind of a CSI:Mogadishu mission to take DNA samples on 5o terrorists killed in raids on Al Qaeda training camps. The US was also involved. More detail at the link.

The border between Kenya and Somalia closed again for security purposes. The escape of the Islamists into Kenya has long been a concern. So has their (in)effective border security - something the US can relate to.

You know I had to go for a looksee after seeing this. Sudan: Strange Bedfellows in Khartoum. I'll say it's strange.

Washington continues to face a contradiction in dealing with Sudan. The US administration is genuinely concerned about the Darfur tragedy, but it also needs Khartoum's support in the long war against al-Qaeda. Hence the high-level CIA presence at a somewhat surreal intelligence summit earlier this month in the Sudanese capital...

Top western spooks mingled fraternally with their opposite numbers in Sudan's National Security and Intelligence Service (NISS). Its chief, Salah Al-Din Abdulla Mohamed, was in good spirits, back-slapping his western counterparts and even dancing on stage, while a band entertained the visitors at the imposing new intelligence headquarters in Khartoum.

Speaking of music, a Musical Exchange took place between the troops and some native Djiboutians at Camp Lemonier and it sounds like a good time was had by all. Trying to imagine them all standing around singing John Lennon's "Imagine" but that's what they did!

Out of Africa

Somalia in the eye of the storm. It's the Beeb so the US is to blame of course. The money quote:

"Washington's approach to Islamism seems to involve containing, or attempting to contain, Islamist organisations while targeting individual terrorist suspects."

Meanwhile, the janjaweed continue to spread their unique brand of terror into Chad. But no one wants to admit it just yet. From Chad: Protection is the issue but from whom?

It was typical of countless acts of violence that have taken place in eastern Chad over the last three years. Armed men on horseback rode through Goz Amir refugee camp last December, hacking and shooting at least 15 men and women to death. And like many of the attacks, it was not immediately clear who the attackers were and what had motivated them to kill.

Yesterday, we had Russ Feingold. Today Bill Nelson weighs in: Swath of Africa could become terrorist haven.

A prime minister's office scarred by a recent al-Qaeda bomb attack. Families separated while fleeing from genocidal murderers in their hometowns. And employees of an international company kidnapped from a heavily guarded oil-rich area. No, this isn't Iraq or the Middle East -- it's an impoverished region of Africa where chaos is breeding a new brand of Islamic terrorism allied with Osama bin Laden.

British charity OxFam pulls out of Darfur region. It's the largest camp in Darfur and get this - "this report does not reflect the view of the United Nations." Sweet Jesus! These people wouldn't say shit if they had a mouthful!

Oxfam has decided to permanently close down its humanitarian operation in the town of Gereida in Sudan's western region of Darfur, citing reluctance by authorities there to improve security and stop attacks on aid workers.

Out of Africa - Somalia

Danish sailors kidnapped off Somali coast doing well. Although really - how well would YOU be if YOU were kidnapped by Muslim pirates?

40 Sheiks apprehended in Mogadishu. "Frog-marched" them out of the mosque, too. (The only time I've ever seen frog marched in a sentence without Karl Rove in it.)

On Friday there was a grenade attack on a Somali cinema. 5 people were killed, 9 injured. 'Eyewitnesses say the video hall, known to have shown films that have had naked scenes, was packed with people."

Russ Feingold speaks. I wonder, how do you say yadda-yadda-yadda in Somali?

Somalia Islamists show missile in video. No doubt they were aiming it at a UN aid plane or something. That's the Religion of Peace for ya.

Somalia to extend olive branch to Islamists?

And the US is paying for it???? Big MISTAKE.

The Somali interim government has proposed to pardon Islamists who were jailed after government forces, with help from the Ethiopian army, launched a military operation against them in January. Under the proposal, the government would pardon Islamists who have been fighting the government for months, and release jailed Islamists.

Government spokesman Abdi Haji Gobdon told the media this plan had been discussed by cabinet ministers in order to “extend an olive branch” to former fighters from the Union of Islamic Courts, other anti-government fighters and politicians from the opposition.

The decision for a pardon would likely require parliamentary approval. The number of imprisoned Islamist fighters is unknown. Somali has not had a stable government since 1991.

Last week a United Nations-backed reconciliation conference between the government and the Islamists was postponed for a month for the third time, due to insecurity and lack of funds.

Washington has released $1.25 million to fund the July 15 conference.

Hundreds of Boys rescued from Somali Mosque

From allAfrica.com:

Mogadishu mayor, Mohammed Dheere, told journalists last week that a joint Ethiopian and Somali military operation to hunt down remnants of the routed Islamists facilitated the seizure of one thousand young boys in the mosque.

"We rescued 1,000 young boys, most of them under the age of 16 from the Islamists. They have told us they were trained to be suicide bombers.

Anyway we will release them once their parents contact us," he said.

Trained suicide bombers released to their Islamist parents. That's so nice of them. (/sarc off)

The Zanzibar connection - 5 of the rescued boys were refugees from Zanzibar. Listen to the money quote from one of their family members:

Mohammed Aden, a brother of one of the Zanzibars, said his fellow countrymen were learning the holy Quran in the mosque. "They had nothing to do with fighting or terrorism. They were simply studying the holy Quran as freebie," he said.

(/sarc on) Yeah, right.

American AQ killed in the Puntland

The American's identity has not yet been revealed. The press release from the Puntland State of Somalia.

We would like to inform the International Community and the Citizens of Puntland that On June, 2007, the Puntland military battled a group of international terrorist.
These terrorist had fled Southern Somalia and came on shore in Puntland. This group of terrorist was part of the former Islamic Courts Union which had been defeated in Southern Somalia.

The Battle took place near Bargal in the Bari region of Puntland, which is 400km from Bossaso.

These terrorists suffer six casualties, they had different nationalities including.

a)The United States
b)Great Britain
c)Sweden
d)Morocco
e)Pakistan
f)Republic of Yemen

Puntland Forces also captured these items from this group:

1)1 Truck (Surf Model) carrying logistics

2)1 Speed Boat.

Four soldiers from Puntland were wounded during the battle.

The Government of Puntland is committed to working with our partners in the collective security of our region.

I'm happy to hear this.

Around the horn...Somalia heating up?

The Jihad never sleeps and it looks like things are heating up in Somalia. al-Reuters claims that US planes are hunting Islamists in the Puntland. The Anatolian Times goes into a bit more detail and names names. Among the so-called "high value" Al-Qaeda militants believed to be in Somalia are "Fazul Abdullah Mohammed from the Comoros, Kenyan Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan and Sudanese national Abu Taha al-Sudani, an arms expert believed to be close to Osama bin Laden. Others are Sheikh Dahir Aweys, the hardline cleric heading Somalia's Islamic Courts Union, and Adan Hashi Ayro, the commander of the Islamists' militia wing, the Shabaab." (More on Sheikh and Adan can be found here.)

Meanwhile over in Eurabia, Der Spiegel has a cow about the US interviewing terrorists held in Ethiopia. They are calling them "extraordinary renditions" and allege mistreatment. SOMEBODY that knows what they are doing BETTER BE interrogating these homicidal maniacs and who the hell do you think this dipwad is????

The US government is apparently making sure that it is the Ethiopian authorities rather than US officials who are running the prisons in Addis Ababa. "They've concealed their role but you can assume the Americans were behind all these renditions," a senior western diplomat based in Kenya told the Sunday Times. "By sending prisoners to Ethiopia, they had a convenient place to interrogate people."

I say Der Speigel, der Schmeigel, thank God we are interviewing terrorists. How else do you think we even KNOW about these HVT's (high value targets)???

Esquire not only has a hot cover this month (Angelina Jolie) it also has an uncomplimentary (but comprehensive) piece about the US's Africa Command in the AMERICANS HAVE LANDED. It's worth a look.

Hijab Wars: Nigerian style

How did this happen to me?

Nigerians force Christians to wear the hijab.
All schoolgirls in the Nigerian state of Kano are now required to wear an Islamic veil. The new state policy, which went into effect May 5, applies even to Christian girls studying in private schools.

Kano is one of 12 states in the more populous northern part of Nigeria which on June 23, 2000, introduced Islamic shari'a law. Since then, conflicts between Christians and Muslims have led to the death of a 1,000 people in the region.

Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, who is himself a Christian, did not oppose the introduction of shari'a law. Many Christians fear that the election of a Muslim as the country’s next president could lead to the Islamization of the southern states. Muslims in the south are already demanding the Islamic veil for women.

Algeria: AQ leader wants to surrender

From AKI:

The leader of the Organisation of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Mokhtar Belmokhtar, who is in charge of the area of Algerian Sahara is ready to surrender, according to a report in Algerian daily al-Shuruq published Thursday. The paper, which quoted unnamed informed sources, said authorities are negotiating directly with the family of Mokhtar considered the Emir of the so-called Area Number Five, southern Algeria.Belmokhtar, whose nom de guerre is Abu al-Abbas or Louar, was reportedly close to Hassan Hattab, the former leader of the now defunct Salafite Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), which changed its name to Organisation of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb in January after pledging allegiance to the international terrorist network of Osama bin Laden. Hattab has surrendered under a national reconciliation plan offered by Algerian authorities to end a brutal civil war in the 1990s in which an estimated 200,000 people have died.

You knew there had to be strings attached to this so-called surrender, didn't you?
The terror suspect is reportedly demanding a passport and the cancellation of all charges against him, including a sentence to death, in exchange for his surrender.

I say just take him out and be done with it. But that's just me.

Richardson lends new meaning to term 'brown nosing'

Carpetbaggers and Scalawags.

White House Hopeful Richardson Tells Black Leaders He Would Make Africa Priority

Speaking to a meeting of the National Action Network, a civil rights organization founded by Rev. Al Sharpton, the New Mexico governor said the continent had been neglected by the Bush administration in favor of the Middle East and other regions thought to have greater strategic significance.

"Somehow it's not considered by American policymakers to have the importance it deserves," Richardson said. "Issues related to AIDS, refugees, issues related to governance, international poverty — somehow this continent is forgotten."

Richardson, a former ambassador to the United Nations, said that as president he would press to add an African nation to the U.N. Security Council. He also touted his recent efforts to help bring about a fragile cease-fire in the war-torn Darfur region of Sudan.
(ed. note: you're making me laugh with this one, Bill.)

Hey Bill. Perhaps you should quit looking at your vacation photos from the USS Pueblo and read
this.

Operation: Go to Sleep.

Zimbabwe: Victoria Falls. It's a slippery slope.
Living Under Operation Go to Sleep:

As early as seven in the evening there is no sign of life at the Mamina shopping centre in Mhondoro, a village 100km west of Harare, the Zimbabwean capital. Since the police crackdown on the opposition in March, an unofficial curfew has been in place across the country. Residents have complained of raids on shopping centres, particularly pubs. A policeman who participated in the crackdown said the raids had been codenamed 'Operation Chirara' (Go to Sleep), and their superiors had told them the action was necessary to forestall unrest.

A month ago, Mamina was a hub of activity: in its numerous liquor stores loud music blared till late at night while local residents sat drinking with the workers from nearby farms. "Since political disturbances flared up in Harare and elsewhere in early March there is virtually no night life here in Mhondoro," a resident told IRIN. "The police here have all but imposed a curfew on the people, and they are afraid to venture out after dusk."

Read it all here. Wack.

Iran to fund radio station in Zimbabwe

Air Mahmoud.

Zimbabwe is to set up a new radio station to counter Anglo-American propaganda directed against it's national policies and democratically elected government.

We are under siege and being bombarded by the western media broadcasting to our people.

The short wave station is slated to go live on or before April 18. Iran will reportedly pony up roughly 40 million bucks. Sounds like a front to funnel funds to Islamists to me...

Horror in Nigeria.

Muslims murder Christian teacher for desecrating the Koran. As a supervisor of a class writing a final examination on Islamic Religious knowledge on that day, Oluwasesin was responsible for ensuring that students strictly kept rules and to prevent mischief in the hall, which had become common among cheating students, said Aluke Musa Yila, a fellow teacher at the school. Musa told Compass that Oluwasesin had collected papers, books and bags before the exam in the all-girls class, in accordance with school procedures to prevent cheating, and dropped the materials in front of the class.

While noting that Oluwasesin was not aware the belongings included a Quran, a local newspaper reported she tossed the belongings outside the classroom. But Musa, who rushed into the classroom soon after students began yelling, told Compass that Oluwasesin had dropped the belongings in front of the class.

“Usually such items are returned to every student as each returns her answer script,” Musa said. “Soon after the bags collected by Oluwasesin were dropped in front of the class, one of the girls in the class began to cry. She told her colleagues that she had a copy of the Quran in her bag, that Oluwasesin touched the bag, and that by doing so she had desecrated the Quran, since she was a Christian.”

Soon after the student raised this alarm, other students in class began to shout “Allahu Akbar [God is great].”

Aluke Musa Yila“It was at this point that I was attracted to the riotous scene in that class, and I then rushed there,” said Musa, who said he witnessed the murder of Oluwasesin by the Muslim students and extremists. “How could a teacher know that that there was a copy of the Quran in a student’s bag if this was not pointed out to her?” He notified Malam Baba Musa, patron of the Muslim Students’ Society at the school. The MSS patron, along with three other school staff members, went to the classroom to try to bring calm, Aluke Musa said. In the raucous confusion, he managed to rush Oluwasesin out of class to the principal’s office.

“The principal left me and Oluwasesin in his office and also went there to calm down the Muslim students,” he said. “Knowing that the students may soon come to this office, I pushed Oluwasesin into the bathroom in this office and then locked up the office.”

By the time he had rejoined the principal and other staff members, he said, the entire school was engulfed in uproar. Muslim extremists from outside the school rushed in to join in the unrest. “They destroyed school property and were demanding that Oluwasesin must be given to them to be stoned to death,” Musa said. “When we could not give in by releasing Oluwasesin to them, they started stoning us.”

Pandemonium prevented school or law enforcement officials from getting Oluwasesin out of the school, he said. “While we were thinking of ways to take Oluwasesin out of the school, the Muslims broke into the principal’s office and dragged her out,” he said. “The principal rushed there to save her as they clubbed her with an iron on the head and blood was gushing out from the wounded side of the head. He was pleading that they should not kill her, but they were insisting that she must be killed.”

“The principal succeeded in getting Oluwasesin up to the school gate,” he said. “There was a house near the gate, and he dragged her into the house, but the rioting Muslims went into the house and dragged her out again. This time, they clubbed her to death, brought old mats and placed dirt on her corpse, and then burned the body.”

No evidence of a Koran was found. Five students have been arrested for murder.

Out of Africa

Calling all Muznuts! Abu Yahya al-Libi wants you to get busy in Somalia. He even makes a special shout out to all those "mujahedin on the information frontline" urging them to keep up their contribution to the fighting - "inciting violence" and claiming it to be "among the most honorable of devotions and loftiest acts of obedience."

I guess he means acts of devotion and lofty acts of obedience like this out of Ethiopia: Wahhabi Islamists drag Christian Evangelist into Mosque and beat him to death.

And in South Africa? The Muslim camp where they learn to handle firearms, ride horses etc? Why that's nothing more than Club Muz so buzz off and mind your own business.

I'm glad to see that one more bad actor is off the streets in Eastern Africa: Terrorism Suspect Transferred to Guantanamo Bay.

Kenya: More fun and games from the Religion of Peace.

Terror Alert for Kenya Athletes
"The World Cross Country Championships due to take place in Kenya this month could be the target of a possible terrorist attack, the US has warned. The US Embassy in Kenya said extremists might launch an unspecified attack during the marathon race on 24 March."

Guess who?
"The US embassy is also aware of public statements by leaders of Kenya's coastal Muslim community threatening to disrupt the world cross country championships through unspecified means,.."

Jizya time?
"Officials say Internal Security Minister John Michuki will be meeting Muslim leaders in Mombasa next week ahead of the world championships. The Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) warned that they would disrupt the event in response to alleged harassment of Muslims by the Kenyan police. "We are going to have a very big demonstration during that time to show the world that Muslims are marginalised in Kenya," said Sheikh Mohammed Dor, the council's secretary-general."

The last time some Muslims felt marginalized in Kenya: 1998's Embassy bombing.
